FAQ

What is colon hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is a natural and gentle irrigation of purified water into the rectum, by way of a sterile rectal-disposable speculum. This process allows for the colon to be cleansed of toxic waste material by repeated, continuous flushing with purified water. We use an FDA registered Hydro San Plus closed system unit, which just means that as the water goes in, water is also going out. Having two separate lines prevents contamination and drains fecal matter without odor. This therapy exercises the colon muscle, helps reshape the colon, stimulates reflex points in the colon and helps hydrate the entire body.

How much time is required for a colonic session?

Plan for an hour, but each session lasts between 30-45 minutes based on the individual.

How will I feel after a colonic session?

Most people agree that a session of colon hydrotherapy feels like an internal bath. Colon hydrotherapy does not hinder you in your day to day activities; rather, it hydrates your entire body so that you feel energized and refreshed both internally and externally.

What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy and an enema?

The average length of the colon is approximately 5-5.5 feet long. The main difference between colon hydrotherapy and an enema is that an enema only reaches the rectum and lower portion of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy reaches the entire distance of the colon. According to learned centurion Dr. Norman Walker, one session of colon hydrotherapy is equal to thirty enemas.

What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy and laxative use?

Laxatives act as chemical irritants and stimulate the muscular walls of the colon to abnormally contract to expel the vexing substance. The use of laxatives also interferes with the digestive processes occurring in the stomach and small intestine which results in electrolyte depletion and dehydration. Colon hydrotherapy cleanses the large intestine from below and does not compromise digestion higher up in the alimentary tract.

What is the role of colon hydrotherapy in disease prevention?

Research has shown that regular use of refined carbohydrates and a lack of natural fiber increases the transit time of bowel waste and stimulates putrefaction in the colon. Each year, over 140,000 individuals are diagnosed as having colon cancer and approximately 60,000 die because of their disease. Periodic cleansing minimizes the exposure of the colon walls to carcinogens.

How many bowel movements behind are you?

Let’s think! If you are eating three meals per day, seven days a week, four weeks per month, that is a total of 84 meals a month (not including snacks)! Now, take that number and subtract the number of bowel movements you are having. (Example: If you are having one bowel movement per day that is 28 per month. 84-28=56 bowel movements behind schedule). You should have two to three bowel movements per day.
